John Wick is pictured enjoying a drink while seated at a bar. He appears worn out and exhausted. Unexpectedly, a group of thugs storm into the bar and begin intimidating the customers. John makes an effort to ignore them, but when the bartender begins to complain about them, he takes action.
John uses his distinctive martial arts techniques and his skill with a gun to easily take care of the thugs. The other customers express gratitude and thank him for his assistance.
An old acquaintance named Marcus calls John as he is leaving the bar. Marcus tells him that a hit has been placed on him by the High Table, a covert organization of assassins. Unfazed, John expresses gratitude to Marcus for the caution.
As John gets home, he discovers that it has been looted. He becomes aware that the High Table has dispatched assassins to kill him. John gets ready for fight and embarks on a vengeance mission.
John easily dispatches the first few assassins but quickly discovers that he is outnumbered. He hides and makes a strategy.
John outwits the assassins with the help of his superior fighting abilities and familiarity with the area. He kills a few more of them before being unexpectedly surprised.
John is apprehended and brought before the High Table. He is presented with a proposition by the society's mysterious leader, The Elder. John will be granted peaceable retirement if he murders The Elder's opponent.
John accepts the arrangement and embarks on the assignment. He sneaks into the rival's compound and starts a bloody fight.
After winning, John goes back to The Elder to collect his prize. The Elder keeps his word and permits John to stop working.
In the last panel, John is pictured relaxing on a beach and taking advantage of his well-earned retirement.
